Chapter 1
World in Chaos!
Bring on the Monsters!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wes' POV
Now as you know, from me having told you in the previous installment of my journal of this journey of mine, you've learned about the Dokapon Kingdom, it's love of money, and of myself, both in my childhood, and in present times...
But tell me, how many kingdoms out there are without their imperfections?
That's right. NONE.
Don't get me wrong, the Kingdom's 'Money-loving' ways are not the center of this trouble... Okay, maybe it is PARTIALLY.
You see, a long time ago when the Dokapon Monarchy was just starting out, the world was in utter chaos; towns ransacked by evil monsters, spirits, and various other unsavory beasts. Now, these monsters have many strange tastes, preferring to rob the towns blind of their money, for reasons beyond even the most educated of men. Looking back at the hard-times in my life, the answer as to why this was, was because the Monsters had learned greed from us.
But putting that aside.
It was maybe years ago, when I was around 22 years of age when it happened...

"Wes, you with me, rrreow?"
I awoke from a rather strange day-dream when I heard that call.
You see, around the time it happened, I was in Hallstatt on business. The man before me, Crysto, whom was the owner of the Magic Store I was browsing around, and I were discussing the cost of something I had been looking to buy.
Shaking off the thoughts I had, I turned back to the mysterious figure of Crysto, whom was clad in old wizarding robes, complete with a hood that covered her form, before clearing my throat. "Yes Crysto, sorry about that." Readjusting my glasses and my dark blue steeple hat (Gifts from the magic academy I had attended for a few years), I nodded. "Now, moving on, what was the price for that spellbook you have there again?"
Crysto thought on it hard, petting the head of the cat that he had on her shoulder. "Oh yes, I remember neeow." An wise smile came on her face. "How does 2000 Doka sound?"
A rather cheap deal, all things considered; And given what I could learn from it, it would really help business back on the farm... "Sounds good. I'll take it." I said; simple, but to the point. Putting down 2000 Doka on the desk, I was glad that this currency was no longer simply just a bunch of gold coins, having been upgraded into paper format; much lighter, and easier to carry around in large quantities. Crysto nodded at the price before handing off the Spell book I had eyed from her inventory.
Deciding to be careful, I gave the book a quick once over, looking over each spell and incantation with a careful eye. When all things were said and done, I saw that not a spell was mis-spelled or written wrong. Of course, I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised, Crysto and her kind were known for their honest magic business, wanting nothing more then to spread their knowledge of the arcane and healing arts to other people. "Something wrong myeoow?" Crysto asked, though she sounded sure that nothing was.
Which, I had to give her, there wasn't. "No. Sorry Crysto." Putting the book away, I bowed a little to Crysto. "Forgive me, but you HAVE heard the recent news about rip-off artists appearing around the place, I'm sure."
Crysto nodded mysteriously. "Ah, yes, one can't be too careful with their wallet these days, reeow." She waved dismissively. "I understand young one, no need to worry."
Knowing this instantly made me feel a lot better; if there was one thing I hated more then anything, it was people, especially good friends, to think ill of me. I had been doing business with Crysto for a while now, and she had done nothing but help me. Scratching the back of my head bashfully, I chuckled, "Thanks for the understanding Crysto." Crysto merely waved off this statement. "Anyways, I'd best be off."
Crysto nodded to this, "Yes understandible." She pulled out a deck of cards from his desk drawer and placed it on the table top. "I do hope your farm comes out even better from due to the magic I've sold you." She drew a card, and took a look at it...
I turned to the door, and was just about to open it. "Well thank you for your time Miss Crysto, I best be on my wa-"
"STOP!!!" This was further emphasized by a knife embedding itelf in the door mere inches away from the handle that I was gripping.
Shivering, I slowly took my hand away from the door-knob, looking more and more jittery with each passing second. "Wh-what?.. What was... What was that... For?"
Crysto, shivering even more then I was, slowly turned the card he had just drawn in order for me to see it...
The Plague... Disaster... Imminent danger...
"The cards have never been wrong, Wes... You'd do well to heed them, reeeooow..."

It was only a few seconds later that I found out what had happened...

RAAAAAAAAWWWRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was chaos.
The town where I had opened up shop for my farm, Conroe, was being ransacked.
From where I stood looking out the magic shop window, the town was facing one of the most real descriptions of 'razed Hell' that I had ever seen in my life. And the cause?
Some of the STRANGEST THINGS I had ever seen in my life.
Most of the creatures looked like animal-human hybrids, some even looking like they were made of pure spirit energy. From where I was looking out the window, they were causing quite the ruckus; destroying public property, smashing whatever came too close, and people were forced to stay inside their homes or else face the raid outside with the monsters. Whenever a building was barged into by a monster, they always ran out, holding huge bags of what could only be spoils of the raid; but whether it was weapons, food, or money was beyond me.
There was only one thing that came to mind when I saw these things...
"Monsters?" I whispered in disbelief. "But... How?"
Crysto looked every bit as surprised as I did. "Yes, I'm inclined to agree with your question." Now actually out from behind her desk, she looked out the window to watch as the monsters continued their raid. "The Dokapon Orb has always kept the monsters at bay... But yet, why it's powers fail neeeow... I can't be sure..."
I remember so many emotions as I looked down at the town from the shop; the people, from what I could feel, were showing the greatest amount of fear I had ever felt in my life. I was no exception, the appearance of these monsters suddenly was so... Worrying... "What do we do?"
Crysto shook her head. "We stay safe. This shop has enchantments that will prevent monsters from trying to break in..." She must've sensed the weird look I had thrown at him, as she merely chuckled. "Call me paranoid if you will, but somehow, I always knew something like this would happen, reeoow." Having said that, she walked back to his desk, and sat back down. "Anyways, we shall wait here and await further instruction. If I'm right, the King will not sit back and allow such torment to be handed down on his people."
... ... ...
I can remember rage building up in me; I found it harder and harder then ever to just sit there and watch it all happen in front of me...
--------------------------------------------------------
Within the span of a few days, it became apparent that the monster raids were not isolated to the town just a mile or two away from the magic shop. Merely a day or so later, this bulletin arrived in the mail. It was engraved by the kings royal seal, so it immediately caught mine and Crysto's interest.
Calling all Adventurers!
I could bore you all with frivolous speech, but this is a delicate situation.
I will make it brief; Monsters have been on the rise; ransacking towns, stealing whatever they can get their grimy hands on. The People of Dokapon are on the brink of poverty due to this new and unexpected menace!
So to all Adventurers, those bold and daring especially, make your way to Dokapon Castle in Asiana with all due haste! To rid ourselves of these monsters, a great reward will be given!
The hand of my darling Princess Penny's hand in marriage, and the throne of Dokapon! I will explain the conditions of earning the prize upon your arrival.
For the sake of all of Dokapon (And of course of it's money), please come!
His Majesty, the King.
Crysto couldn't help but whistle an impressed whistle. "The king must be getting desperate to offer up his own throne to the winner of this contest, neeoow."
I took the banner from Crysto and examined it thoroughly... "This is... This is... Just what I need."
Crysto looked at me with a raised eye-brow. "Don't tell me you're actually going to answer this call! For a person like you, this is a fools errand! You're no fighter reeoow!"
I was growling like an injured dog at this point, causing Crysto's cat to arch it's back and hiss in fright. "I don't care. Someone needs to do something about these monsters." I just knew by the silence that that old woman was going to argue with me. "And don't try to stop me, this bulletin has just offered me a chance to even gain some money doing it. I'm not a stickler for cash, but those monsters ransacked my farm, Crysto, and my expenses alone will not be enough to cover whatever damages they've done..."
I was so engrossed in the bulletin that I didn't realize what was going on around me. But even then, I heard Crysto's voice all the same...
"... ... ... Take this."
I looked up from the bulletin to see that the old girl was handing me what appeared to be a somewhat well kept magical staff. Putting down the bulletin, I looked at the staff with a fixed interest. "You will need it." She said, sounding more resolute that she was giving it too me.
So with a strange look in my eye, I took it. "What's this for?" I asked giving the old woman a hard look.
She smiled lightly. "You will need a weapon if you're going out to answer this call." She looked solemn as she motioned to the door. "I just wish there was more I could give you. More I could help you with, reoow..."
And suddenly, I felt better. I had a staff that I could use to defend myself with, and my brain was working into overtime to think up uses for both the spells I had, and the spells I had bought only previously. "Thanks Crysto." I walked up to the door, a new sense of purpose welling up inside of me. "But you've helped me enough for this."
Having said that, I opened the door and traversed out into the world that was now inhabited by monsters...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I had to fight quite a few monsters on my long trip from Hallstatt to Asiana, but each encounter only strengthened me, made me stronger. I didn't care how many got in my way, if I had to defeat a hundred of them, then so be it. This adventure was just beginning...
And do you want to know the weird part?
For the first time in my life, I had never felt so alive. I was ready to accept this new change in my life with my whole being. At one point, as I rode a boat for the second time in my life, back to Asiana, I even thought to myself, 'Come and get me world! Hit me with your best shot!'
.....................................................
I had no idea it would be very, VERY soon that I would regret those thoughts.

"Do you even realize what this-a means you moron?!" Came a cheesy italian voice an uncertain distance away from the boat Wes rode. three figures beheld the same banner that Wes and Crysto recieved.
One of them looked horribly overweight, though still small in stature, wearing purple overalls, and a yellow shirt, along with a yellow cap atop his head. He also had a zig-zag mustache, with an intense stare. Along with him was a tall man wearing black overalls along with a purple shirt, and a purple cap, he appeared to have been the one who had spoken. "It says a Large sum of MONEY! And if that's not enough, the throne of an entire kingdom to boot!" He appeared to space out, drooling at the thought of all the money he could imagine... And all of that from the contest this banner was talking about alone!!
The short stout man shook his head before clubbing the bigger man in the head. "Stop day-dreaming you idiot!" Though he was grinning at the prospect of money, he was more focused on the task at hand. "Waluigi we need to find this castle, before we can drool over the money."
Waluigi rubbed his head, glaring at the stout man with a look of extreme malice. "Yeah, I know that Wario! You didn't have to hit me you tub of lard! Besides, it's-a your fault, we're-a here in the first place!"
Wario growled at the name, about to club Waluigi again. "What was that, you-?!?!?"
"Will you two idiots cut it out?!?" Came the voice of the third figure in the group. He was a young man of the ages either 18 or 20 and was examining the bulletin carefully. "If either of you morons had been paying attention, you'd have seen that this bulletin had directions to this... 'Dork-apon Castle'." He was a young boy that almost looked like a younger, version of Wario. He wore an orange cap, an orange shirt, and green overalls over the shirt. His name was Waclay Wario, the youngest brother of the Mushroom Kingdom's infamous Wario Bros...
But how in the world did they get here? The Mushroom Kingdom was maybe worlds away from Dokapon. Well the answer to that was rather simple; While questing to a newly discovered cave which could carry a new treasure trove that they could add to their already ridiculous mountain of gold, they instead found a strange warp-pipe. Made of solid gold, the Wario's instantly thought that it lead to the treasure in question they had been searching for...
What they HADN'T expected was the pipe to take them into a woodland area, somewhere very far away. By the time they reached a less denser part of the woods, they found that they were not in the Mushroom Kingdom anymore.
Not that they cared, if there was a treasure of any kind worth finding, or in this case earning, they would be more then happy to keep earning until their ridiculously large pocketbooks, only got even more ridiculously large.
Wario, turning away from Waluigi, looked to the bulletin and saw that it, indeed carried an adress to find Dokapon Castle. "Well whadaya know-a?" He grinned greedily. "Looks like-a Cash-city awaits us after-all, boys!" He laughed a laugh that was definately filled to the brim with ego, before pointing to the north. "If this bulletin is right, this castle is to the north! Here we go!"
"Where you going there boys?"
The three Wario's stopped in their tracks, and quickly turned to look behind them... No-one appeared to be there...
"Up here!"
The men instantly looked up, and beheld a figure sitting on a high-up tree branch...
A figure with green hair... A female... She wore a tan white middriff shirt, with a green jacket, a green bandana on her head, and baggy white pants with brown travel shoes on her feet.
"You said you're heading to Dokapon Castle, right?" A grown up Robyn asked the threesome with a sweet smile... Even though one could tell a smirk was forming on the inside.
